9. Why did north korea and south korea unite?

Why did the North and South Korea unite?

Korean history tells us that the North and South Korea were separated in 1945 after the World War II, which also ended the 35-year Japanese Occupation over Korea.

The division was caused by two spheres of influence along the 38th parallel, where the Americans controlled the South while the Russians controlled the North by installing a communist regime.

The said separation was highlighted in 1950 when the North launched a surprise attacked across the 38th parallel and quickly took most of the South. This prompted the Korean war that lasted for three years, and killing almost 2. 5 million people.

Recently, the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made headlines in the news when he and South Korean President Moon Jae-In have pledged last April 27, 2018 to make peace and make the North and South Korea to be united again. However, the two governments are still working on the details of their joint declaration, as the two leaders may or may not agree on broad principles depending on their interpretations, which may cause lengthy or failure of negotiations.

The joint declaration of the two countries covers the following:

·         Humanitarian issues

Reunify the families that were separated during the Korean War by August 15.

·         Infrastructure improvements

Adopt practical steps towards the connections and modernization of the railways and roads on the eastern transportation corridor to promote balanced economic growth and co-prosperity of the nations.

·         Cease of hostile acts

Cease all hostile acts against each other in every domain, including: land, air and sea.

·         Nuclear-free Korean Peninsula

Realize the common goal of having complete denuclearization and nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

Since their first meeting in April, the North and the South Korea have been meeting for three times, an affirmation that they will pursue with the peace process.

Answer:

Korean painting includes paintings made in Korea or by overseas Koreans on all surfaces. The earliest surviving Korean paintings are murals in the Goguryeo tombs, of which considerable numbers survive, the oldest from some 2,000 years ago (mostly now in North Korea), with varied scenes including dancers, hunting and spirits.[1] The Takamatsuzuka Tomb in Japan, from the 7th-century end of the Goguryeo period, has paintings in Goguryeo style that were either done by Korean artists, or Japanese one trained by Koreans.[2] But more often influences came into Korea from China. Until the Joseon dynasty the primary influence was Chinese painting though done with Korean landscapes, facial features, Buddhist topics, and an emphasis on celestial observation in keeping with the rapid development of Korean astronomy.
